LPR

License Plate Recognition (LPR)

The following explains how the LPR works.

  1. In the designated lanes on each LPR camera, video stream is continually provided to the LPR
    PC through the network.
  2. The LPR PC software does the recognition to capture the plate by taking a picture as the
vehicle’s plate comes in to the camera’s field of view.
  3. The LPR software takes the plate image and through OCR (optical character recognition)
    converts the image into text.
  4. The plate text and the plate image are sent to the Auto Sentry.

NOTES:

  • Plate verification is necessary for new club purchases, club renewals, and club redemption if the plate physically has not been previously verified by the car wash customer at the Auto Sentry.
  • Plate correction is necessary if the plate text captured is incorrect.
  • Plate verification and correction are not necessary if the plate text matches a license plate in WashConnect and the car wash customer has already been through the car wash and has physically verified their license plate previously at the Auto Sentry.
  • Plate verification or correction by the car wash customer may be necessary based on the plate text results produced by the LPR software and the status of the car wash customer.
